Where can I find child play groups?

I work 3rd shift and am home with my 2 year old daughter during the day. Since the cost of daycare is outrageous, we chose not to have her attend. When we are out at the park she gravitates to the other kids but they are older than her. I know she craves interaction with other kids. Where can I find a playgroup or mommy and me type group that is free or one that doesn't charge a yearly membership fee?

I was having the same problem. I couldn't find any groups to fit us. They were either older moms or if the moms were younger they seemed to be clicky and not really accepting of new moms. My solution...I started my own. I advertised on craigslist and around to moms I knew in my area. Since we were all new, no one felt left out! We keep each other up to date on community activities and who ever can go to them, goes. My oldest actually met his best friend at the park during one of the play dates. She wasn't their for the play date but they got along so well so I asked her mom if we could exchange phone numbers. So that's an option too. Good luck!

I was a stay at home mom for several years and the best thing I ever did was find a MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) group in my area!!! I had lots of fun and so did my kids!!! It's playdates for moms and kids!!! Google it and I hope you find that it is something for you and your kids!!!!
