Don't u hate when u ask for advice and people try to persuade u to continue breast feeding! I do! SO to answer the question u asked. I use Good Start Gentle Plus (ornage can) it is awesome! And worth the money for sensitive little tummies! If u have an ebay account I buy it alot on there or u can go to there website and sign up for coupons and u get 12 off per month! Hope that helps!

I defineately would go with Good start it's the only one that says easy to digest and there's options of omega 3 and probiotic cultures for easy digestion. Also if he does get a little contipated give him a bit of sterilized water it frees everything up in no time. and I reccommend biogaia its all natural drops you give your baby to fight off the negative bacterias in his tummy and replace them with good ones, it got me thru colic so I think it would aid his tummy the most.

Hi Roxanne
When I changed my baby to formula from breast i originally used the Farley's milk but that made him constipated and so did Aptimal. I now use cow & gate and that is brilliant. He loves it and we haven't had any problems with him at all. Hope that helps x

i have had a lot of problems switching from breast to formula also, but after trying TONS of them and hating something about each one, i found the Nestle Good Start, its the green can, and i really love it because it has probiotics in it that no other formula has. she hasnt been constipated anymore and it doesnt stink like some of the other ones. good luck!

The brand of formula shouldn't matter too much. Read the labels to see which ones are closest to breast milk. There are a couple out there that say they resemble breast milk, such as Similac Advance. All formulas could make your little one constipated when you first start them on it. All formulas either contain iron or are iron fortified; that is what makes them constipated. If your are still able to nurse him, that is what is best for him, but you could always do both.

My girls use Enfamil Lipil, it has iron in it and at first they were constipated with it, but now they are fine. I think it takes babies a little while to adjust no matter what formula you start them on, especially if you are going from breastfeeding to formula feeding.

Once my girls got so constipated i would pump so they could get the breastmilk and have an easier bowel movement.

I have been suplimenting breast milk with similac formula I was using the similac advance with early shield and I switched to the organic similac it is the same as advance, but with organic ingredients. I have been using it for several months only 2-3 bottles of day and we have not had any problems. I also heard that the added iron can cause constipation I don't know if you can find one with low iron I believe they make that.

im from australia so all the formulas will be different there, but make sure you use one with no iron in it and here you can get a constipation formula with a natural stool softener. be warned most formula fed babies have constipation mine had it for 11 and a half months even with the special formula, she bled when she had a bm. we were stuck using parachoc, prune juice, orange juice, apple juice, apricots, water everything possible on and every day basis which wasnt good for her. just keep on eye and if its been more then a few days make sure you give extra water or prune juice so it doesnt get too bad

I didn't breastfeed and my son was on a Wal-mart brand (Parent's Choice) which made him spit up a lot as well as made him constipated off and on. His doctor suggested I change his formula and I have put him on Nestle Good Start and he is doing sooo much better!! Hope I could help :)

Hey There,

You may run into that problem despite what formula you choose because formula built differently from your breastmilk. Your breastmilk is designed for your baby's system, so naturally it breaks down properly without effecting his system. Have you tried pumping your milk and giving it to your baby in a bottle? That's always a good option. But, if your looking to switch to formula, my friends (even my sister) had very good things to say about Good Start. It was kind of thin compared to other formulas and it had ingredients that made it close to breastmilk and the effects it has on a baby. Good Luck!

Maybe he will do better in a few months. Till then it may be a good idea to stick with breast feeding him. Soon as he's good at eating solids he won't need as much milk so it won't affect him the same way plus you can feed him fruits that will also help digestion. Formula isn't cheap so if you can than you should continue breast feeding. It's also more earth friendly to breast feed.

Hi.... Im not sure what help I can be as Im in UK... not sure what formulas you have over there.....?!? My daughter was breast fed up to 11 months, however for some feeds I changed to formula! Anyway, a good cure for constipation in the little ones is 1 fluid ounce of pure orange juice (smooth, no bits) mixed with 4 fluid ounces of cooled boiled water! Hope this helps!! :) x
