my daughter had her 6 month check up today, and the doc was concerned about the size of her head. He ordered an ultrasound to see if there is anything wrong with her brain. Anyone else been through this? What were the end results?

my son has funnel chest and I have taken him to 3 different speacalist (everyone has told me not to worry) yet everytime a new doc. see's him they want to send him back...even though I have been through this I stress everytime they even bring it up. I think it is pretty common for kids to have a big head...my son's head seems big (like my ex's lol) but I thankfully haven't had a doctor show real concern over it. I will pray for you that everything is fine and hopefully the only issue you have is trying to find clothes to fit over his noodle (like my boy) Chin up and hope it all works out!! :)

Jackie, The doc said that I shouldn't worry (yeah right). He said this was common, and it's likely that she is fine. But I'm going to worry anyway. I asked what it could be, but they wouldn't tell me because they didn't want me to worry. Of course, that worried me even more. I hope everything works out with your little one.

Most likely your baby's head is fine..kids have different head sizes my first from her 12weeks scan had a big head like her father the doctor said!lol and her head size was checked and the sizes recorded throughout the pregnancy.shes five years old now and has a fine head.My second has a small head and it was put down to genetics as i have a small head and my first daughter got her head size from her dad...i would say you have nothing to worry about but its good to always have things checked.I wish you the very best.

my doctor said my baby has a big head too. i was wondering how big does a babys head have to be to require me to have a c-section?

Tonya, the doc didn't tell me the exact measurements, but he said that it was over the 100th percentile. She looks perfectly normal to me. My first child's head was massive. Almost as big as mine by 6 months, and no one said anything about it. The only thing I can now as I am looking at Delilah, is that her forehead is a bit big an protrudes slightly. It doesn't look abnormal, though.

My little brother had to have an ultrasound because his head's reallly big (he's 7 months old). It turned out that everything's fine... he's just a very "solid" baby who's head skipped ahead of his body as far as growth at the moment. They expect his body will catch up soon.

Rebecca,

I know exactly how you feel. I just took my daughter in for her 6 months check up and the dr noticed a drastic increase of her head size. I am going back next month to have it checked again and if it increasing they are going to have I think a MRI to make sure there are not any fluids build up.. I can let know you what happens then. I know its scary. I am really worried about my daughter.. What did the dr say about yours?
