I went cold turkey from breastfeeding to a sippy cup when my daughter was 13months old. Had no problems at all. She didnt even ask for the boob... I certainly didnt want to put her onto something else that I would have to wean her from down the track!!

sorry - I was referring to the tommy tipee bottles that are shaped in a similar way to a breast. They've worked great with both my girls.

how long did you nurse him for? Unfortunately some babies can be fussy when it comes to trying to give them a bottle when they are used to the breast. What I have done with my 2 daughters is introduce a bottle at about 2 weeks old so that they were able to take my expressed milk when I needed someone to baby sit and also so I could continue feeding them when returning to work. I found the Tommy Tipee ones are the best for breast fed babies.

How old is your son? If they haven't been introduced to the bottle by 2 or 3 months, sometime it can be really tough to teach them. If he is still really young, you might want to try some bottle brands that are easier for breastfed babies - in my experience these are Adiri, Avent, and the Playtex Natural Nurser. If he's older, you may want to skip the bottle altogether and to straight to the sippy cup since he may not be willing to take a bottle at this point. Good luck!

Patience and repitition, it also helps if you have someone else try to feed him. I know this may sound weird but they can smell you, your milk has a sweet smell to them and sometimes if you're around at all they won't drink. With my last little girl I had to leave the house before she would take the bottle. Good luck and remember to be patient.

What kind of nipple are you using? When I switched my daughter's nipples on her bottles, she wouldn't suck on the new ones either because it was a different shape and it was different. It took some patience and me offering the different one a gazillion times a day. She too would just bite on it, but eventually she adjusted and drinks from them like a champ now. Just be patient and persistent. He will eventually take it. I switched from the Avent nipples to the MAM which are very different shapes. You could try different style nipples and see if he will take one of those over the one you are offering, or just wait it out. He will eventually take it and get used to it. Good luck!
