hi, you could try using nappy pants or pull-ups instead of ur ussual nappies this way ur boy could just stand up and change his big boy pants! (unless number 2's) my son does not like having nappy changes so i took this as an opportunity to start early potty training and he loves wearing big boy pants.

My son is 6 months old and has recently started doing this. Changing his diaper has become quite a hassle! It all started when he figured out how to roll over. I love the sticker idea! I've found singing to him helps so that's the only advice I can give. Good luck!

My son is 18 month old, and he does that almost every time I change him. I've tried to give him things to distract him, but nothing works. I just try to change him as fast as I can.

My daughter does that every now and then She's almost 17 months. I will usually let her have a toy or by letting her "help" seems to work too. I'll let her open the wipes and try to undo the diaper (probably a bad choice farther down the road, but we'll be potty training soon) and she'll lay down and let me change her. If it's a clothes change too I always let her pull her pants up and push her hands through her sleeves.

Quoting Michelle:

try putting stickers on their hands, they will hopefully try to get them off and give you time to at least clean up the more messy diapers.

I love this idea!  Next time we have a difficult time I am totally going to try this :)

Give him a bottle of something to drink or a fav toy to distract him...

You can also involve him in the process... "Hand me a diap, wipe, etc."

The last bit of advice is talk to him and tell him what you are doing while you are doing it, or just before you do it. that way he is informed throughout the whole thing...my make him less uncomfortable!

My daughter just started the same thing recently. (she is 8mos) She rolls over and tries to get at anything near her or damn near jump off the changer almost everytime. My hubby started turning on the ceiling fan/light everytime now even when its light out and she seems to get mesmerized by it which seems to be the only thing that helps.

I know what you mean. Thankfully, my daughter doesn't do this all the time anymore. But she did do this EVERY diaper change for about a month when she started rolling everywhere... and then again for a couple weeks when she started crawling. *hugs* It does end... someday. I too have felt bad pinning her down but I just try to change her as quickly as possible.

I never had a problem like that unless my child was busy playing. However, I would say to possibly try giving your baby a sippy cup or a toy to possibly calm them down for just a minute so that you can get the diaper changed. Sorry I could not be of more help.
