Do you know if Hemp Powder is okay to give to a toddler? We have been putting only a little bit in smoothies for my son and he's 2.5. How do children get enough DHA and Omega's with a vegetarian/vegan diet?

I give my baby girl (14 mo) a hemp, spinach and peach smoothie everyday - she loves it! I am especially happy because she gets her dose of Omega's. I have also given her Nordic Naturals liquid for Omegas if we miss the smoothie time. : )
Here's the recipe:

When my oldest daughter was younger I gave her hemp milk, so I don't see why hemp protien powder wouldn't be safe. I use in it smoothies and am currently nursing a 3 month old. To be honest, I don't really like the way it mixes with my green smoothies, so I'm trying to find other ways to incorporate it into my diet. I've also used flax seed oil and powder for my ODD as well as chia seeds.

I give my toddler Hemp Protein and will say it definately safe. I'd recommend giving your toddler Moringa Powder it is such a great source of vitamins: (Vitamin A, Vitamin E) , B-vitamins, minerals, B-Complex, Protein (amino acids), Essential Fatty Acids. I buy mine off dherbs.com or upayanaturals.com

Flax is a great source, and flax meal can be used in baking. 1 tbsp flax can be mixed with 2 tbsp water and can be used as an egg replacement in recipes. I also add some flax oil when cooking or to smoothies. There is a Silk soymilk with added omega 3, unfortunately it doesn't come in unsweetened, then it would be perfect for children.

You can also get the omega through flax, my daughter adores it mixed with granola soy yogurt and fresh fruit, she would eat it every meal of the day if I let her. If you dont like the seeds you can buy the powder for it.

our daughter drinks hemp milk, and we include the hemp protein powder in her waffles and smoothies, there's been no problem...

my son is 3 months old and he gets the hemp protein powder that i use in green smoothies through my breast milk and i use this vegan flavored Omega three, I think it's called Barleans or something along those lines which i put in my smoothies as well, I think he should be fine with the hemp powder though.

If he like hemp that's great! My daughter is too picky..... Lot's of omega 3 in flax and walnuts. You can find DHA is Silk soy milk and some other fortified foods. Also Deva makes a vegan algae DHA supplement.
