I have been recently diagnosed with blocked fallopian tubes, but there is no apparent reason for it to happen. My daughter is 3.5 years old. Have no infections, no other reasons for this to occur. my doc is confounded. I have not had the laparoscopy yet... don't know if I plan to. Has anybody else had this issue?

Greetings, ladies! I, too have recently been diagnosed with one blocked tube and no apparent reason why. My daughter is almost three and we, too, would like to give her a sibling and add to our family.

My Reproductive Endocrinologist has told me that it could have become blocked recently or it could have been that way for years. Confusing, huh?

However, and I would like your input on this, because of one blocked tube, I am immediately categorized as infertile. I have read article after article after article about women with only one blockage that have gone on to successfully deliver several healthy babies. I was immediately referred to IVF and I can't help but to be just a little skeptical. I am 32 and otherwise healthy. My husband is 33 and has minor motility issues, but the doctors are not concerned, as he is merely on the low side of normal.

Really, straight to IVF? That seems like an expensive solution to jump to without trying some other things first. I am thinking that most women who go straight to IVF:
a) have the funds readily available
b) are frustrated with month after month of unsuccessful attempt
c) don't want to wait any longer

What do you think? Am I just in denial?

Have you ever had any type of abdominal surgery? I have had several and this caused a blockage in my left tube due to a lot of scar tissue build up from surgeries, but was able to be pushed through with dye during HSG. Good luck to you!

Yes, I had one blocked tube and I did the HSG to flush them out. My doctor said the same thing, there is no real reason this happens, it just can. I have a 3 1/2 year old boy myself and have been trying for almost 2 years to give him a sibling.
