Ok so I'm starting a new job again :) It's 12 hour shifts 3 times a week. Everyone is giving me shit and I need some advice here. I was thinking of getting an overnight babysitter. My husband(ex) isn't in the picture so he won't help. I need someone to stay with and get up with the little one. My mom can't do it (or won't).

Any ideas?

LOL How did I know Issy Hijacked your post Nikki!

What about an Au Pair? I know you don't need a full time live in Nanny but it may be cheaper than paying someone 3 overnighters a week. I have NO idea what this stuff costs in the states, but in Australia an Au Pairs wages are like $220 a week, they live in and u do provide them food but it's way cheaper than a Nanny. Might be something to consider.

Congratulations on the job. What about students training for childcare/social work/teaching positions that have all ready been vetted etc?

Congrats Katherine!! I like Loureen's idea. I had a friend going for a college degree in child care/education something like that, and she had to do an internship. You know, without pay but all the work. Someone like that would be great and they would love to have the extra cash.. maybe even someone who needs a place to stay, would you consider live in help if qualified?

and of course, i'm sure i don't have to tell you this, but check references.

Yay congrats Katherine, that's great news! *-****/*********/

Yay Katherine that's great news. I hope you find a solution to your babysitting problem. I would look into an agency, if it's night care, usually it's reduced rates.

Is it 12 hour night shift? What are you going to be doing? It's really shitty that their dad can't keep them at night, if this is a night job, since all theyll be doing is sleeping! And yeah, thanks mom. *Sigh*

Overnight babysitter is a great idea if you have no one else , I used to do a bit of overnight babysitting , Parents at my school would ask if I wanted extra work ....You can try preschools and any teachers that don't have their own children and see if they want to make the extra cash or you could try a babysitting agency .....
