BIrthday suggestions for 13 yo girl?

My Daughter will be 13 at the end of April and I want to do something special for her birthday. I am at a loss because she is socially akward. She only has one or two true friends. We have a large extended family which of course would want to celebrate but I have no idea what to do. She does not want a typical cake and ice cream get together and talk kind of birthday party. She isn't really into playing games or stuff like that.
Her main interest is reading, and I have no idea what to do with that.

Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Your daughter sounds just like my daughter, she only has a few close friends and always has her nose in a book! My daughter turned 14 this year. For her 13th birthday I wanted it to be special and something she could remember, so we planned a mall party. She invited her 3 close friends (which was perfect because they could all fit in one car) and they had a blast! And it was the easiest party I've ever thrown lol...just let the girls walk the mall a couple of hours, then after it's dinner and cake. I had made up little party favor bags with lip gloss and other fun things, and before I let them loose to shop I snapped a picture of them in the mall. While they shopped I had it developed and slipped it in the goodie bag. They were really surprised and had so much fun.

for my daughters 13 b'day i had a Mary Kay lady come and teach alittle about make-up and mini make overs and got dressed up then took like 3 friends out to a really nice resturant. Another year we made it an over nighter at a hotel with in door pool we went ice skating outside in downtown (her b'day in Jan.) got henna tattoos and made hard rock candy in the hotel room this i did with 2 of her friends. Both party were a great success and were around the time my daughter was your daughters age and then we have just fam thing no friends usually within a week of her accutual party. Hope this helps.

My daughter took one of her friends to get manicures and pedicures and then we went out to eat. At 13 a huge party is not necessary especially if it would be ackward. The rest of the family should understand that.
