I'm pregnant with my second child, due dec. 14. My sons pretty active but pretty laid back, he's pretty good at playing on his own when i need him to(except when i go into the kitchen. Apparently that place is everything that embodies evil because as soon as i set foot in there he comes running from wherever he is in the house and starts yelling.) We also have two dogs, and springer/cocker cross (16 months) who is an escape artist, and a black lab(10 months) who has a lethal weapon for a tail. Call me crazy, I know i am, lol. My issue is that being pregnant again, I am in so much pain. I didn't have the best back to begin with but it never bothered me during my first pregnancy. Now it seems like every vertebrae in my back in punishing me for doing the simplest things. Trying to walk our dogs in the evening is pure torture, even if we take them for shorter walks. Trying to keep up with my son during the day is difficult at best and torturous at worst, especially if i make the mistake of saying walk or park. He loves going to the park. And don't even get me started on sex, which is painful beyond belief although if anyone has any tips i'd love to hear them. Most of the time, my hips feel like someones taken a grinder to them. And on top of all this, by the time i resort to taking tylenol, it usually makes no difference. I try not to take it if I don't have to, yet in the last 3 months I've taken more tylenol than i usually do in a year! Does anyone have any home remedies for pain that might help me get through my day without wanting to remove my bones? Any help would be much appreciated!

If you haven't tried already, you can try sitting on an exercise (birthing) ball instead of a regular chair. Sitting in a chair compresses your spine (gravity pulling your body down and the chair pushing back). The air filled ball doesn't exert any extra pressure on your back. It helped immensely the last few months of my last pregnancy. You could ask the hospital if they have any you could try before you make a purchase. They don't work for everyone.

Thanks everyone! I went ut and bought a maternity belt and it's worked wonders. Our little town is situated on the side of a mountain which means hills big time and I can actually walk up and down the whole thing! I've been able to walk my dogs again and clean my house again which is beautiful cause we moved in april and I still hadn't managed to get all the rooms unpacked! Thanks all so much for your advice, I will definitely try the relaxing thing cause another 2 months without will kill me!

Oh my goodness you could be describing the pain I had during my first labor and delivery! haha. The grinding bone pain in my hips was the worst thing in the world. It felt like they were each being slowly broken in half..yuck..horrible. I'm so sorry you have to deal with that for months!

But, during labor the only thing that stopped that pain was counter pressure on my back with a hot wash cloth (no hospital grade pain med could penetrate it).
And for the back aches...maternity belt worked for my first...which I had a ton of pain most of the 9 months...but another thing that can help is taking naps. Maybe you are doing too much just doing what you normally do. I don't know if your son is still taking naps, but I would definitely try. I was exhausted beyond belief this time around and had aches and pains and lots of early painful contractions until I made myself lay down during nap time. It took about a week, but I feel much better.

The painful sex seems to be unchangeable. Its been painful both pregnancies and it really pisses me off cuz I love being intimate with my boyfriend. The only thing I can think of that takes the edge off is being calmed down and maybe almost sleeping..He has had to rub my back and head and neck for a long time some nights before I relax enough to not have pain. The sleepier and/or less stressed I am the less pain there is. Morning sex is the least painful...i guess cuz im all relaxed and drowzy but well rested.

I am having the same problem, I have a 5 year old and I am expecting #2 early November. My back, hips, and even my tummy hurts so so so so much. My doctor sugested a maternity belt, which I have purchased and I now wear religously. I have noticed a huge difference, I do feel pain but it isn't as severe as it was before this awesome belt. You can purchase one at most medical supply stores or even at Walmart. The price range is anywhere from $25.00-$100.00+ Good luck with your search for a good pain releiver. :)
