My daughter is diagnosed with Ornithine Transcarbamylase Deficiency, but now that diagnosis is being pushed to her secondary one and her main is becoming Mitochondrial Disease (Complex III and/or IV). We started out wanting the exact same chair for the exact same problem. It ended up being suggested to us that we go ahead and get an Otto Bock Kimba Spring instead, because she's honestly not going to be getting better and outgrowing the need for it in the near future and insurance will only cover one every x-many years. For her, that time is 5 years. Is an 8/9 year old going to be appropriate in the Special Tomato? Not really, in our case. Plus she personally is really declining, and the Special Tomato also doesn't allow for items such as her feeding tube/pump, IV, or portable dialysis or vent should those become necessary as we've been warned for years now. It hasn't happened yet, but I don't want it to happen and have no way to transport her. You'll want to think about each angle of your situation.
