I am guessing it's a boy thing, both of my sons seem to not hear me when i ask them to do something I think they call that selective hearing because if I say I have chocolate cake well they magically appear...... hmmmm but my daughter does what i tell her the first time.... If only they could be more like her!!! anyone else with the same problem.....

I have this issue with my son quite often. Sometimes he will listen to me and do what I ask, but only if he knows he will be able to do something. For example, today he begged me to go over to the neighbor's house and I told him I would think about it. Then I said his room was messy, so he ran in there and cleaned it up quick. He said to me, "I cleaned my room like you asked, because if I didn't then I wouldn't be able to go to Tyson's house." I just had to laugh.

Yes but with my daughter! She definitely has selective hearing. I am setting limits with her and only asking once. If she doesn't respond I put her in time out. It is working so far.

my son and husband are exactly the same. my hubby blames it on work related hearing loss, but its selective hearing just like his son
