What are your experiences with ivf?

Hi, My name is susan and I am turning 36 this year. I have a 2 yo miracle son who was born in the middle of two ectopic pregnancies and as a result I have lost both of my tubes. Its heartbreaking for my partner and I because we always wanted lots of children. To add insult to injury, I have been diagnosed by doctors as being in a high risk category of developing cancer and have been told that I have to have a full hysterectomy before I turn 40.
IVF is the only way that my partner and I will be able to have any more children, but at the moment we are in the middle of making that awful decision - is that it for us? we already have one beautiful child and I am led to believe the needles that you have to take make you ovulate 10 times more and as a result make you pms 10 times worse and it doesn't get better - it gets worse. Should we avoid the pain and frustration and just count our losses or is it really not that bad? please be honest :-)

Hi Susan. You are definitely at a crossroads.... I am a huge advocate for IVF having had now 2 successful cycles. I have a 28 month old son, and a little girl due on Monday. I did the whole nine yards, and while the shots were not the highlight of the process, there is no way that the shots would have deterred me from pursuing IVF. Our desire to have a child greatly outweighed the shots and the risks of the process. IVF is so worth it. Good luck with your decision making.
