Dear Parents,

What is per/hour ratio for a full-time live-out babysitter on Manhattan?
How much should I pay a babysitter for a toddler boy?

Thank you so much for your response.

It's crazy but if you think about the cost of living in the area, how else can these quality nannies survive. They make good money and work very hard.

I just have to say that if the rates that are being given here are the going rates I am glad that I am a stay at home mom but I might have to consider baby sitting in my house on a daily basis. At $20 an hour that is a lot higher than minimum wage, not to mention $50 an hour. I do not live in or near Manhattan nor do I have any desire to do so but that is crazy, couldn't you get child care at a daycare center cheaper? I am just asking. I live in rural PA so those rates just blow my mind! I worked at a Pre-school/daycare for 15 years and when I left our hourly rates were not even close to that amount.

Thank you for your responses. Does the price correlates with a number of hours, if, let say, you need someone for 50 hours/week, live out.

$15-20 an hour.

I think it depends on the amount of hours though, if you're needing someone 2-3 hours you may want to do a rate - say $50. to make it worth their while to come babysit for only a few hours.
