I'm 31, and i'm very lucky to have 3 Beautiful stepdaughters who are 15, 27 and 29!!! AND 2 Scrumptious Step Grandaughters who are 2 and 1 ! I also have a son of 9 myself, and we really are a closeknit family. I feel very blessed, especially as i cannot have anymore children myself. Is anyone else in a similar situation??? Did you experience any problems, what do you love and hate about it??? Get in touch, would love to hear about it.

I am 32 and have a 18 year old and 16 year old stepdaughter and 12 year old stepson and a 16 month old daughter. I have been with my partner for 4 years this December and most of the time its good however sometimes I am shocked at how and what they say to their dad because I wouldn't have ever been like that with my father however I think that is more a generation thing than anything else! I am very lucky with the stepchildren I got especially after reading some stories!

Lovely to read so many positive replies!!!
Dara, my only advice for when you meet your stepchildren is just be relaxed and bubbly. I found treating the older girls like my friends eased the situation. It'll be hard for them to start with, but as soon as they get to know you, and relax themselves, i'm sure it'll be ok.
Good luck xxxxxx

I haven't met my partner's "children" yet, which scares me a bit. His oldest is 26, I'm 29. He and I are expecting ( EDD: 9/30/10 ), and I have a DD from a previous relationship. He's 45. At first, he didn't think he would be up to having another child, but then we found out I was pregnant. He had no choice but to be "up to having another child" LOL!!!

hey, I'm 23 years old and my husband is 49. We have a 2 year old together but his daughter is 25 years old. We get along pretty good, and she just loves telling her friends my her "mom" is younger then her. She has two beautiful little girls, so I was a grandmother before I was even a mom. I love my family, no matter how unnormal it looks.

Hi, I am 26 and my partner is 41. We have been together for 7 years and he has a son from a previous relationship who is 14 so I have known my stepson since he was 7. He is a lovely boy so it is easy for me to be myself, plus I don't really feel like his stepmum as my own brother is 13 years old! I have a 7 month old son with my partner and my SS adores him. His own mother cannot have any more kids so my SS was thrilled not to be an only child at last. :)

I'm a 39 year old been married 7years this April Love him so much But when it has come to his girls who are 23years old We haven't seen her since she was 17 year old. Cause when her father lost his Job she moved back in with her Real mum she worked out she didn't want anything to do with us any more. Since then all we know cause my other step Daughter who still sees her mum now & again But is very close to her Dad tells him if she knows anything! that the eldest is married & he / us have two gran daughters we are not aloud 2 see. The girls have never really taken to me.the 21 year old she only puts up with me cause her father! the two boys I have from a past relationship they have excepted him more! maybe cause there dad has never really know en how to be a proper dad. my sons are 19 years old & 15.

I'm 30 & have a step son (17) & daughter (21), our son is only 11 weeks! It ment that i did the teenage thing before i had my own kids ~ i guess that's good preparation for me! My stepdaught & I did 'clash' whilst she was a teen, but now she's growen up a bit we get on really well. My stepson is quite easy going & easy to live with - i feel quite lucky really!

Hi Chelsey! My situation is alot like yours; my husband had 2 sons from a previous marriage who are 26 and 25. Then we have a son who is almost 7. Both older sons are married and we have 1 grandson with another grandbaby on the way. I remember when we found out about our 1st daughter-in-law being pregnant, i just cried saying, "i'm going to be a grandmother before i'm a mother." It was very strange at first, but it's just awesome. Our grandson (who is 5 months older than our son) just calls me "Krissy", but now that I'm older I don't know if I want the new baby to call me that or something else. Our family is very close and loving, and I love every minute of it!!!
