My son will be nine months old the 28th and he still won't crawl he will roll around to get to different places but if you stick his legs up under him he rocks some and then just lays on his tummy legs and arms both up superman style...he does walk holding on to your hands and in his walker he will go backwards in forwards...

DO NOT WORRY!!!! Every baby goes at his or her own speed. My daughter NEVER crawled, she just stood up and started to walk.Maybe that will happen to you son.Now my son is 9 months and he started to crawl at 8 months... . As long as your son's doctor is not concerned then you shouldnt be, good luck!

My son doesn't crawl yet either. I've heard bigger babies have a harder time with it. Every baby is different. My daughter crawled at 8 months, stood up and "cruised" a week later, but then waited almost 4 months to walk. My son doesn't crawl but he pulled himself up to standing last week and is "practicing" walking around holding on to furniture. He'll probably walk sooner than my daughter did, but you never know!

My daughter just turned 9 months a week ago and finally started crawling the other day. For the longest time she just rolled where she wanted to go. Don't stress. It will come when you least expect it.

I dont think that you should worry about it..It takes some babies longer than others & I am ppretty sure he will strat crawling before you know it as he is already rolling around & some babies walk first & then crawl. I am Patty & new here. Please keep meposted.

My daughter just turned 9 months and isn't crawling either. She scoots on her butt which is adorable. She appears to be trying to crawl while on her tummy but hasn't actually gotten anywhere. She rolls over when she wants to or is she is sitting she will scoot. I guess they will do it when they are ready. It is hard to not be worried but this thread has been reassuring.

No worries! He will crawl when he's ready. Mine turned 9 months Aug. 13th and today is Sept. 1 and she is not crawling. She rolls everywhere and scoots backward a little. She is my youngest. Her two older sisters crawled at different times. I know some kids who just skip it and walk.

My son is 9 1/2 months old and is not crawling either. He rolls and turns himself to get what he wants. As others have stated, it is not something to worry about. However, I will admit that it's hard not to worry when so many other babies his age are crawling everywhere! He will either crawl when he's ready or he might never crawl at all. Only time will tell :-)

My baby is leopard crawling back wards. She does get into the position to crawl but goes back and forth then goes backwards. My Grandmother says not to be worried this is just the start. My girlfriend in Mali says her son started to crawl at 12 months, so every child differs, because my son aged 6 years started to crawl at six months and walked at 9 months. So this is a long wait but I enjoy the time I have with her, because she is growing so fast. Don't want her to grow up to fast.

I just had our 9 month appointment at the pediatrician, and I mentioned that my daughter is not crawling either. He mentioned that many babies go right to walking (her dr never crawled either!) He said 30% of babies never crawl. As long as they get to where they want one way or another, there is no problem. My sister-in-law started walking first as a baby, then went back to crawling. So, I guess everyone is different. But my daughter gets up on all fours and rocks back and forth

I wouldn't worry as long as he is getting around some way and is into everything!!!
If he is into everything and trying to put stuff in his mouth i believe he is doing just fine.

I have a son with developmental delay and he never put stuff in his mouth and didn't have that curiousity of getting into everything. I have a 2nd son who is 9 months and everything goes in his mouth and he is crawling all over. If you son is hitting the milestones and is getting around i wouldn't worry. He will probably be crawling very soon!!! :-)

Hi, don't worry too much about it... babies all develop in their own time. Some skip crawling altogether and go straight to walking! Make sure he has plenty of tummy time so that he can learn to coordinate his limbs.

Crawling is not a milestone for a reason. A lot of babies don't do it! It's normal for a baby to be a late crawler or to go right onto walking! Your baby is just fine!

hey

my daughter is 10 months next week (5th sept) and she still isnt crawling either... she barely even rolls! she can roll she just chooses not to. she dosnt pull up either. she will take steps if you hold her hands but she will only "push" helself backward in her walker... i have been told by so so many people not to worry as so many babys dont crawl also reading "what to expect the first 12 months" they actully say crawling isnt considered a developmental milestone as so many babys do it at diffrent ages and some never at all! it dose worry me tho... so i understand what your going through: ) sometimes i feel i havnt done something right... i know its silly but you hear eveyone else saying there babys are starting to walk and well... you know! but hey i bet you boy like my girl has something they excell in! Aliyah can seriously talk!!! her vocabulary is 15+ words and adding more evey day... she copys EVERYTHING we say... guess they all do there own thing : )

Don't be too worried I know many children that never crawled at all they just walked. Also if he is rolling to get where he wants to go he may not see the need to crawl. Every child is different and will learn in different ways. It does not seem like it is a developmental problem because generally they would not be trying to walk at all either (in walker or holding hands) however if you are really concerned mention it to your doctor.
