Drinking water...

How do I get my toddler to drink water? All she drinks is apple juice. I DO 1/4 juice and the rest water. But I want her to like water too.

My daughter used to only drink milk and juice. Until she started noticing my husband and myself drinking lots of water. So my take on this is, if you want your child to eat healthy, then SHOW them how to eat healthy. Do NOT bring the junk food into your home. If you want them to drink water, then drink water yourself. Juice & junk food is always OK in moderation. Hope this helps.

We live in the tropics in Australia so there is no way our kids could drink anything other than water seeing as they have to drink so much to stay hydrated. As a treat my son loves a squirt of lemon juice in his water, so he is not getting any sugar, but a bit of flavour and so much cheaper than any premix bottled drinks. He also loves ice in his water, just like his dad. Hope you are getting on top of it.

I got my toddler to drink water by adding 1 tea spoon of brown sugar to it it let's them believe that it is apple juice cause the sugar turns the water that colour.

Make it ice cold. That was the number one thing with my son. That and he saw me and my mother drinking water with ice all the time. So he wanted to copy. Try not to force it or make it a rule. she may end up hating it even more.

You are the mom that has to look out for what is best for the child. Tell the child what you are going to do and stick with it. Timper tanturms are not tolerated. I would go could turkey after telling them what you are going to do. For example you would do juice only at meals.

I feel your pain! One of my biggest regrets with my daughter is that I gave her juice instead of making her drink water. we've been trying to wean her off of juice too. Capri Sun and Minute Maid both make flavored water drinks in the pouch that are better than regular juice. But I've also just started putting my foot down. I tell her she can have water or nothing. When she realizes that I'm serious she'll eventually drink the water. Also, we have a fridge with a water dispenser in the door, and she likes to get it herself, that helps too. I think it just comes down to making the rules and sticking to your guns. but it is a hard habit to break!

Try flavored water she would still be getting plenty of water but the flavor might make her think she is getting something else. My son loves water but sometimes he gets tired of drinking it, So I get propel or Fruit2o water and put it in his cup and he drinks it.

Two options. Either put less and less juice in the water and slowly wean her off it. Or just go cold turky. My boy likes to use strawers and different cups. So i do that more if he is not drinking much. Also water play with clean water and different jars etc he always wants to drink that water. Hope it helps.
