Waiting until she shows signs of interest is the best way to start. Kind of give her the lead. I used M&Ms because my daughter liked them. She got 1 for pee and 2 for poop. Then as she started understanding I added ones in for being dry all night or if she told us. It was motivating. Also, starting off on a timed schedule where you take her every half hour helps as well. This gives her many chances for success.

Good luck!

I just have to thank my lucky stars that both my son and daughter were trained before they were 2!!!! We did stickers. I got a fun piece of paper and taped it to the bathroom wall, then each time they went on their potty they got 1 sticker for #1 and 2 for #2.... We did big boy/girl undies. Made a HUGE deal of being a big kid and let them pick out their first set of undies. Then when we got home they got to wear them. We would say "don't pee pee on Nemo, that will make him sad" And it worked!!!! My daughter was just as easy as my son!!!

Good luck!!!!

What have you tried? I am struggling with this with my daughter too. I waited till I thought she was ready and then bought big girl panties and started her on the potty. she did great for about 2 weeks and then regressed. so I gave up and let her wear diapers for another month. I started her again about 3 weeks ago. I told her all week that starting on Saturday she would be wearing big girl panties everyday. No more diapers unless it is bed time. I made her a potty chart with 68 boxes on it and told her when it was full we would go and buy a big girl bike for her. So every time she uses the potty she gets a sticker for her chart and gets to pick a prize from her potty bag. (I bought things from the dollar store, like coloring books that were 3 for $1, and a pez dispenser and 8 refills, she got one refill each time she used the potty. and other cheap things) she did awesome for a while but the last three or four days she has started regressing again. she will poop in her panties and not even try to make it to the potty. other times she will make it and stay dry. Today she earned her bike so we went to the store and I let her pick one. but I am making it a rule that she only gets to ride it after she uses her potty. I'm hoping the new motivator will get her back on track. but I will NOT put her back in diapers. even if I have to clean up her messes everyday. she can do this I know she can. If she poops/pees in her panties without even trying to make it to the potty then I put her in timeout on the potty. But if she just has an accident in her panties I make sure to tell her that accidents happen and at least she TRIED. Good luck. I hope some of this helps.
