My baby (4 months) is lactose intolerant. Would just like some advise on the topic from other mothers, as I don't know too much about it.

My oldest daughter now 2 had the same problem and still does. She spit up all the time and cried alot until we figured out the problem and put her on lactose free formula. She now drinks lactose free milk and can have some dairy product like cheese, yogurt, pudding in moderation. We triedto give her skim milk and she got sick from that too. We have a family history of it so she may be on lactose free milk for her entire life, but some people outgrow it and never have any problems again. My youngest now 4 months seems to be fine on the regular formula so it dosent happen to all babies who have family history.

Hi. One of my twin daughters is lactose intolerant. We found out when she was still in the NICU. We have been using the enfamil lactose free and it seems to help her. Similac has a lactose free formula too. The doctor told me that she might outgrow it someday but not to worry to much about it. I am lactose intolerant and I have probably passed it on to her.

My girlfriend had to cut all dairy out of her diet and it made a world of difference for her son. I watch him during the day and occasionally have to supplement with soy formula. So far so good!

My son is 4 months.  I breastfed for 3 months and has some trouble with refusing to eat and then one day he was just screaming all day, so I called my doc and explained the symptons then took in a stool sample, they determined he had a milk allergy/sensitivity.  I couldn't see cutting dairy out of all my cooking, so started him on soy.  He is doing much better.  I know enfamil had a lacto free version as well if your baby doesn't have a problem with the milk protein.
