My son was born 7 lbs 14 oz.. but when he left the hospital he was 7lbs 2oz.. he had jaundice and i tried to breastfeed him in the hospital but he barely got any. So, hes been progressing a little bit. Hes going to be 5 months this Thursday. When he was 4 months he was only 13.8 but 26 inches so long and skinny. I think he has gained alot of weight since then cause he drinks 8 oz bottles now and has been eating some baby food.  I wanna say he might be 15.5? thats just from my scale at home, I wont know until hes 6 months and we go back to the doctor.  Hes definitely a little guy but then again my husband and I are short and thin people!!!! My son was born Oct 5 2008 by the way. And hes on soy formula which might have alot to do with it.

My daughter was 10lbs 4oz at birth and at her 4 month check-up last week was 16lbs and 2 oz. This is 90th percentile. Her sister who is 2 1/2 is only 27lbs and in the 20th percentile. I think it's crazy how differently they all grow.

My son was born on Oct. 24th.   He weighed 9 lbs 6 oz. when he was born.   I just had him to the dr.'s last week because he had a little ear infection going on and he weighed in at 17 lbs.   Have my four month check up next week (the 26th).  Can't wait to see if that changes.

I just found out today that Lovissa is in the 99th percentile.  That means out of 100 babies, 1 is bigger than her.  Your son must be the 1.  LOL

FYI -she is breastfed, so the doc said not to worry about her weight just yet....

So I went to the doctor's today and My little lady is 17.5 lbs and 26.5 inches....@ 4 months old.

[deleted account]

I think you need to wake her up.  Hard to do or not!  You can undress her entirely and take your shirt off (skin to skin rouses babies), touch her with a cold hand, induce her to eat in a drowse by rubbing lightly in a circle where her jaw bone connects to her skull...  Anything!  GL!

I am beginning to be a little concerned about my babys eating/sleeping habits. The doctor does not seem concerned about her weight as she is gaining weight although she is only in the 5th percentile in weight and 10th in length. She was 6 lbs 11 oz when she was born and at her 2 month checkup she was 9 lbs 5 oz and at her 4 month check up she was 10 lbs 12 oz,  so she only gained 1 1/2 lbs in 2 months. I have noticed my baby LOVES to sleep and that is no joke. She can sleep about 20 hours a day. Our days go like this she wakes up around 10:30 eats a 5 oz bottle, takes a nap about 12:30 or 1 until about 5pm eats a 5 oz bottle takes a nap wakes up at about 9pm eats a 5 oz bottle and then goes to bed until 10:30 am. 15 oz didn't seem like much to me because my son was a really good eater. Dr. said she should be taking 24-32 oz but I can't get her to drink more at one time because she either won't take it or just spits it right back up. Trying to wake the girl is at times impossible and I don't even try to do it anymore, my mom always says they will wake when they are hungry. Yesterday she only drank 13 oz total all day. I am afraid she will begin to not gain weight or worse loose weight. Any suggestions?? Sorry for the long post, I am just really concerned.

My Son was 9lbs 5oz at birth and at his 4month appt. he weighed 11lbs 6oz. We have been having trouble gaining weight but now we are on the up hill climb and trying to figure out why he isn't gaining good enough weight

I would advise that you don't try to gauge your baby's growth by comparing to other babies.  Every cutesy one of them is different!  The best way to gauge your baby's growth is at the ped.  You can ask them where your baby fits into the growth chart by percentage.  For example, my first baby hovered right at the 15th percentile for weight (very very light/underweight), but 90th percentile for height (taller than 89% of other babies).  My Oct 2008 baby is in the 60th percentile for weight and 50th percentile for height.  Both were normal, natural births and both were breast fed.  So, it's different from kid to kid.  HTH!

Good thread.  I was curious how my son compared with other babes.  He was both on Oct 12 (a whopping 9 lbs 9 oz).  He weighed 17 lbs/26.5 inches @ 4 months, exclusively breastfed.

We just went today for the 4 month check up. My DS was 8 lbs 8 oz at birth and now he is a whopping 16 lbs 13 oz and 27inches long. He is still exclusively breastfed and the ped is not worried about starting him on cereal since nursing is going so well! :)

Rebekah weighed 7lbs 1oz at birth 10/18/08.  She weighed 13 lbs 13oz at a doctor's appt. on 2/11/09.  I thought she was kind of big for her age, but I feel much better seeing the other kids' weights!
