I'm 21 Weeks and i have gained 15lbs. I can't say i have been eating more than normal. I didn't put any weight on at all in my first trimester but now i'm so scared about how much weight I will end up putting on by the time I have the baby.

Is this wayyy too fast? anyone else gain this much weight by 5 months?

Any advice would ease my mind....I start prenatal yoga and aquafit in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks,

Rhea

I was 128 pounds up until about five months. I started packing on pounds, now I'm three months away from my due date and 152. I eat a lot because the last trimester the baby really starts packing on the baby weight. That last trimester is what you have to watch out for!!

You really have to eat right otherwise you and the baby both will gain weight, and you def. don't want a ten pounder, or weight that will take you ages to get off.

Dont worry about the weight gain unless the doctor says something to you about it. I am now 27 weeks and its like a gain 5-6lbs every doc visit.

Also, you will go through spurts where you won't gain as much. Since my last appt. 2 weeks ago I haven't gained anything. I'm at 24 weeks and have gained about 11 lbs right now. So i wouldn't worry.

Rhea i wouldn't worry too much. Like everyone else has said talk to your doctor. Gaining all this weight, not being able to see your feet, its all very stressful and hard to deal with at times. especially when you add in all the hormones we are dealing with. As long as you eat healthy and excersize I am sure you will be fine. Just remember all the weight we gain now can easily be lost afterwards, focus on being healthy and having a healthy baby. Good Luck

That's not all that bad. I have gained 10 pounds so far... Remember that there is water and other things that make you gain weight. It's not all fat so do not worry!!!

Don't sweat it at 18 weeks (my last appt) I had gained 17 lb, that is with me being on an extreme lowfat diet for gallbladder disease...I have been assured by my doctor and a nurse that it isn't to bad and that as long as I exercise and eat healthy during and after my pregnancy that the wieght should come off. It can be a bit stressful though especially if you are used to watching your wieght like I am! In fact my only pregnancy fear was that I would gain excessive wieght! If you are very concerned talk to your doctor, mine was reassuring. And if the doc thinks you are gaining too much he or she will definately tell you!

I want to say you are probably fine and it probably depends on if you were underweight or overweight when you became pregnant. Stay active and eat right. When you see your dr ask him/her and since they take blood and have you pee in a cup all the time they'll know if something is wrong.

That doesn't sound too bad. Your doctor should alert you if you are gaining too quickly.

I'm not sure on weight in pounds, I'm Auzzie and we use kilograms, and the average weight gain they recommend for 20-22 weeks is 6-8 kilos and from my memory converting that into pouds isn't that far off, so you should be fine. Double check with your doc or midwife, they'll tell you to take it easy if it's not a good range.
