Are liberals more intelligent than conservatives?

Proud to say I'm a religious conservative, and therefore, smarter than liberals. Screw intelligence, although I have been BLESSED with a high IQ. ;)

I think that you see more liberals in college because liberals tend to value education more than conservatives do. Conservatives maybe are more practical and enter the work force straight out of high school. I think conservatives tend not to see the "need" for a degree because they don't see the "need" for a high paying job (clearly I'm not talking about politicians. I mean your average Joe). Conservatives seem to be mostly concerned with making a living and providing for their families. It's not that conservatives aren't interested in making the world better, they just choose to help privately through contributions to charities or churches.
I also think that maybe a lot of bankers and corporate professionals become more conservative as they age because they see the value of working for your money, and they don't want theirs taken from them and handed to someone else.
Liberals, on the other hand, tend to have a broader view. They tend to go to college to get a degree so that they can get a better paying job (or a job as a teacher or a management level government job). While liberals are also considered about their families and themselves, I think they are also more interested in "bettering" society. Liberals feel that it is government's job to right society's wrongs.

Colleges are havens for young liberals because colleges are run by liberals. I don't think it's necessarily that intelligent people go to college and a lot of people who go to college are liberal so liberals must be more intelligent. That's faulty logic. I'm interested in reading the actual study to see how many factors that keep people from going to college (such as financial constraints and chosen career path) he took into consideration when doing his research.

Sorry this turned into a novel, but I'm so interested in the whole liberal vs conservative debate and in psychological/ sociological research.

I don't think political views have anything to do with intelligence. I know idiots on both sides....

I agree Laci. I kind of think that was stupid. I would have preferred to see the study presented in a more serious manner. They really dumbed it down for us hey? Maybe so the conservatives could watch and understand? ;P

for me i don't feel i'm going against any biological design by being liberal like they said. i find it unnatural to be conservative, or religious. obviously alot of people don't, but for me it is very unnatural. i always thought it was the opposite-conservatives more intelligent, more of them went to college-and liberals with the ability to think things through more logically, having more street smarts and what not.

It really has nothing to do with your values.. You're either intelligent or you're not, whether you're liberal, conservative or a liberal-conservative! Each party has their fair share of well-educated people and each party has their fair share of people who are completely ignorant! It's all on whether or not you do your research, not which party you belong to.

I am absolutely AMAZED that that is a fox news link.Statistically liberals tend to be more educated than conservatives. although education does not necessarily indicate intelligence, I know plenty of morons from college. I'll definitely be watching this later don't have time right now ;(
