My baby is almost white-skinned like my grandparents and my husband and I are both brown skinned. He also has sandy hair and green eyes, again, like my grandparents. This is not a miracle. We have the most diverse DNA.

it could happen! i have a friend whos white mother married an african american man and had a son together, when he was born the father demanded a DNA test because the little boy came out with blonde hair and blue eyes, the test came back and he is his child! it could happen, its all just a matter of genetics. they can do some pretty crazy things!

I think what the father meant when he said if she had cheated, the baby wouldn't look like that anyways was if she HAD cheated with a white guy, the baby probably would have at least looked mixed. I don't know, it made sense to me...

I went to highschool with a guy who was status Indian. He had pasty white skin, white hair (not blonde, white) and blue eyes. He looked almost albino.

"This is not completely the same, but I've known several black people with blue or green eyes. It's a very beautiful feature. "
That's one of my favorite things. SO unique and pretty.

"I've yet to meet a blond hair blue eyed mixed child...though I suppose it COULD happen, it's not likely"
This is not completely the same, but I've known several black people with blue or green eyes. It's a very beautiful feature. Most black people around here are some sort of mix. It's rare for one to be 100% African.

There was a white couple here that had a black baby.
The husband flipped out, accused her of cheating and the woman, knowing she HADN'T cheated, did the DNA testing and sure enough it was his.
It's not common, but it's not completely unheard of either.
Although, they claim to have no white in their history?? Weird...

I would want testing done on both parents just to be 100% sure. It's insane and amazing all at once! I saw that this morning and read about it on 2 or 3 different places and didn't see if they ruled out anything. I do think if those are the parent's of the child then something amazing happened and I truly hope that the baby girl can be accepted by the parents friends and family.

the only way I see it is if they used artificial insemination and got the wrong embryo.

Thanks for explaining the Moral Outcry comment. I guess a simple paternity test would rule out any unfaithfulness.

I think she is just adorable! It seems to be just one of those things that occur randomly in nature...they ruled out albinoism, and the article said the neither parent has any white ancestry...they said it seem like a random gene mutation and it has the scientists baffled. I think its amazing :)

April is right, there is a comment from one of the creators of the site and the person did explain to one commenter that they blog about issues pertaining to life, and this particular story was interesting and wonderful so they decided to share it.

While I think it's surprising...I don't understand the "miracle" part of it either. Was the baby not supposed to survive???

I saw a family over here in the UK on This Morning who experienced the same thing...wierd!

Genetics are a crazy thing!!

I only copied & pasted. I didn't make that comment.

I don't understand the moral outcry comment either.
There's likely some sort of white somewhere in the parents' mix. I've heard the opposite, white parents with very little black ancestry having a black child.

Why would there be moral outcry? This baby is a random occurance of nature and should be awed not condemned - it is brilliant that her parents appear to be in awe of her.
I first thought that this may be like me and my hubby - we joked all through my pregnancy that we would have a 'Terry's Chocolate Orange' because I have Black ancestry and my hubby is ginger :-)

Moral Outcry is the name of the magazine that did the article (i believe) and they simply liked the story. they posted it because they liked it and not because moral issues were involved

Totally happened! First child was brown haired, brown eyed. Second was blonde and blue. She was surprised lol. I can only imagine, I was surprised when they pulled a blonde one out of me. Not what I expected at all. I'm still waiting for his hair to turn black

I think it's funny though, that the husband said that if his wife was unfaithful the baby wouldn't look like this.... because it's typical that it does if you're the father? lol I'm not saying it doesn't happen. I am saying that my blonde haired blue eyed cousin and his black wife had a blonde haired blue eyed baby #2... I'd want a paternity test to make sure. Maybe that's just me. ;)
"My wife is true to me. Even if she hadn't been, the baby still wouldn't look like that."
Weird logic there, IMO.
I also don't understand the miracle thing though, I think it's weird that they're even calling her a miracle based on her coloring, as though blonde hair and pale skin is something of value. I hope the other kids don't feel less miraculous.

I couldn't help but think 'ummm... unfaithful wife'. Was that ruled out??
