I almost lost my daughter.

I came home from work late one night to find my 16yr old daughter cold, blue and lethargic. My panic fueled me and I got her into the car and up to the ER. She had taken my sleep medication and a large quantity of acetaminophen. They transferred her to a facility almost 2 hours away after she was stabilized. I now have all our meds in a lockbox and am terrified to let her be alone. It happened the night before Thanksgiving and I still have yet to leave her by herself. I have anxiety when I call her and she doesn't answer the phone right away. She will be starting therapy in a few weeks, and I'm pretty sure I could use some too. Without insurance for myself it really isn't an option though. I really don't have anyone I can talk to about this and all the articles I find are on how to help the child cope. Does anyone have any insight on how to help ME cope?

Oh, hunny. I am so sorry you are dealing with us! I can tell you from experience that depression is something that isn't addressed in society nearly enough! A good therapist and local support groups work wonders!
