OPERATION:Birthday Party! - Seeking Donations & Families

The number of Oregonians seeking state help in the form of food stamps or cash assistance has increased significantly in recent months. In Washington County, the number of households receiving cash help is up 24 percent and the number of households receiving assistance in Oregon City and North Clackamas County is up 23 percent. Not only are people struggling with the daily essentials like food and rent, but their children suffer as well by giving up holiday celebrations, like Christmas, and most importantly their birthdays.

OPERATION:Birthday Party! is an organization created to help families in need provide memorable birthday parties for their children. The parties will be provided to families from Oregon City (and surrounding areas) elementary schools.

OPERATION:Birthday Party! was created out of my participation in a leadership program. As I drove home one evening, I thought to myself about the upcoming birthday party for my son. I thought about all the other families in my community that may not be able to provide their children a birthday due to the current state of our country and its many terrible financial situations. I thought that the holiday season was covered with donations to organizations like Toys For Tots, but who is making birthdays special to children of families in need? That's when it came to me: OPERATION:Birthday Party!

We would like to request your assistance in providing this opportunity to these families and children. Your donations will go towards providing the following:
*Food – Meal, Cake and Ice Cream
*Invitations/Streamers/Balloons/Hats /Goodie Bags & Candy
*Plates/Napkins/Cups /Plastic Cutlery
*Gift wrap/wrapping paper

We are seeking donations in the form of gift cards, food and supplies. Any support you can offer will be greatly appreciated. As donations are received, we'll be adding a "Recognition" page to our website as a huge Thank You to all that support our organization.

If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact us at operationbirthdayparty@gmail.com or visit www.operationbirthdayparty.yolasite.com.

I love this idea!! I unfortunately am one of those families receiving help from the state. So donations i couldn't do but I would volunteer my time and help you get the word out. It's my sons 2 birthday in a few days and it's stressful. So anything I could help do, to lower another moms stress would be great. Here's my email kmbrlbshp6@gmail let me know if i can help you.
