anyone heard of EC (elimination communication)?

incase you haven't.... its basically where you help your baby keep there ability to know when they need to go to the toilet.

when jarmayne was on 18wks old( was able to sit well) i started sitting him on a little potty at different times of the day..... i found that at that age, within a few days he was already waiting to be sat on there to poo, and was peeing nearly everytime.

then i fell pregnant not long after and had terrible morning sickness, and it was the beginning of winter ( with no heater!!!), so i got slack and didn't want him to freeze, so stopped. :(

point is though- lol- if you have the time... EC is an excellent idea to help avoid the dreaded potty training later on. i realalised just how much harder it is the other day when i decided i would try again ( at 16mths) - because it had become habitual for him to just go in a nappy.

has anyone else used this technique?
if so any info would be great :) i'm thinking of trying with rylan when he's able to sit well. also opinions in general are welcome too...

I've heard of it but......that's about it! LOL! It sounds like a lot of work to me and I'm lazy.....hahaha! LOL! Just kidding! Maybe I'll be more inclined to try if I have another child but we're just starting to think about it with Roxanne.......hopefully all goes well?!

I would have to say that is the first time I have heard of it.

I suspect it would have worked well with my son, but I physically would not have been able to keep it up with my shoulder.

I am having a hard enough time lifting two (my son and one of the day care crowd) up the last inch or so onto the toilet seat with training seat.

I have no where to put a potty that my sanity wouldn't be tried and broken between my own son and the rest of the day care crowd. The washroom on the main floor is a very tiny two piece.

I think the concept of EC makes sense and is definitely achievable with certain personalities of children.

I say that because children vary so much that this might not fly with some even at such a young age.

I say if you are up to it, go for it!
