Having trouble sleeping...

In the last week and a half I have had the worst time sleeping through the night as well as falling asleep.... Now don't get me wrong I am plenty tired but for some reason I just can't sleep straight through the night... Some nights it is due to my bladder but those nights are still pretty spuratic but now I am wondering if it is just because my baby girl is moving a lot or if it just my body getting ready... Either way I hate being tired all the time... My hubby and I get up at 5 am 6 days a week with the exception of those few Saturdays that he doesn't work but after he leaves for work I go back to bed and sleep til 9 or 10... I thought you were supposed to be better after the first trimester but other than not being sick all the time I am still exhausted... Am I the only one havng trouble sleeping or is this a common problem many of you are having?... Thanks for listening to all my ranting and raving but I am just so tired of being tired...Joy

I've found that I have the same problem, although the past week I've had anxiety issues due to close family members in the hospital. I went to my OB's (regular and high risk) and whined about it (I hate to admit it, but whining is what I was doing) and was given a slew of things to try ... this is what worked for me ... I have found that being physically active during the day to physically exhaust myself, and sitting down to read / work on Sudoku puzzles (anything really to fatigue my mind) while sipping some camimile tea has really helped me get to sleep. Sitting down for a while to do something that tires my mind but allows me to sit still allows the baby to wake up and get his / her (we aren't finding out) initial tumbles and stretches out of the way, which tend to be the worse. As far as the leg cramps, that someone posted about, I find that drinking a small bottle (I think they are 24 ounces) of Gaterade right before going to bed helps with that. I hope these tips help ...

I have trouble sleeping I can't get comfortable unless I'm on my left side. But as soon as I fall asleep it seems like I get Leg cramps =( and as far as dreams go I have to same one over and over (In my dream I'm looking for a bathroom because I have to pee) lol and sure enough when I wake up I have to go to the bathroom... Lucky me I know where my bathroom is...

unfortunately its all part of the joy of children. Your body will start disturbing your sleep more and more so you are able to prepare for those sleepless nights. All you can do is try and grab a few hours shut eye in the day if possible.

Try to stay sane, its hard lol!!! In the end its all worth it of course

I have been having trouble sleeping for some time... and when i do sleep i get nightmares... joy LOL!!!

It is normal to have insomnia during pregnancy though it doesn't always happen. I find it better to sleep during the day when i get a chance so i don't get so stressed out at night when i keep waking up. Your obgyn may be able to give you something if it gets too bad. Hang in there :)

Listern dont think its abnormal to lose sleep. Your brain is very active a night to process things in your day and just think your about to have a baby so your brain is processing that fact and therefore your sleeping is going to be patchy try to sleep during the day and dont drink an hour before bed. Try talking to you hubby about everything before bed so its all out there and your brain doesnt have to work so hard to process the infomation you recieve during the day.

i have had trouble sleeping too and have been feeling very tired recently, especially now my bump is getting bigger and baby is kicking alot more, either i need to go to the bathroom all the time or recently ive had vivid dreams and my mind is racing.i do have two other children so mentally am always having to think about them but i just try and rest when i can. I hope you can get some sleep soon. take care. Marie x

You are not the only one. It takes me a very long time to fall asleep, getting comfortable. The growing belly is making that harder, plus he wakes up just about the time I'm going to bed. Also I get up two or three times a night to make sure the bathroom is still there.
I just push though when I have to and rest when I can. That's all you can really do.
I hope you find rest soon.
