So my son Brian will be 6months on the 18th and I was wondering when will they pick up their own bottle or sit up? We tried his sippy cup the other day and he held it a dranked everything so why is that so different? Is it because of the handles? thanks everyone!

You can usually buy handles for the bottles (depending on the brand) which i did, but then I found it was a waste of time because unlike the sippy cup my daughter preferred to hold the bottle on it's own! One hand on the bottom and one on the side normally. So now she lies propped up on cushions, feeding herself, with close supervision in case she gets bored and starts shaking the bottle splashing milk everywhere, which she thinks is hilarious :P

He will pick up his own bottle soon. Yes, it is easier for his little hands to grasp the small handles (it's a natural reflex he was born with) as verse to trying to control his hands to hold the wider bottle. Hang in there, it will come.

I think the handles probably help a lot! something to hold onto for them, remember they are still only little and are still building their strength for all of these things :) I think ( and people can correct me if i'm wrong) the avg age for sitting is 7 months and happens around the time they start crawling. You can practice with him, sit on the floor with him between your legs and give him the support he needs gradually reducing it as he gets stronger.
