If you mixed child's hair is really dry you can even shampoo it only bi-weekly. When taking a shower to clean the hair or brush through, CO-WASH- meaning wash it with a conditioner, even a cheaper conditioner. We usually stick with tresemee moisturizing for co-washing and then for a leave-in conditioner for my kids. Suave has an upgraded moisturizing shampoo that works now well also in the silver grey bottle. Do not feel pressured to wash it with shampoo a lot because it will only dry the scalp out. You actually should use a lite oil to moisturize the scalp if possible after a bath also to keep the hair growing well such as Argan oil from Sally's or the vitamin section at Walmart.

Weekly, it's probably wavy and or curly and a little coarse. It doesn't turn oily it just holds more dirt and dust particles from the air. The moisturizers if any and hair oil builds up. I would wash weekly. Final answer.
