I'm listening to Rush Limbaugh right now. He just reported that Ford added more shifts and jobs to produce more of the powerful Ford F150. And.......apparently their hybrid sales are not doing good. Nothing against hybrids, but they sort of do represent the liberal environmentalist agenda. We've had some horrible snow storms here in Chicago this winter, but my SUV was able to plow it's way through the snow to get my son to Catholic school every morning. Yeah....for truck sales.:) See.......there is some good news out there.

Another thought...there are now several SUV hybrids. My parents have a Saturn VUE. (they live in Wisconsin...lot's of snow there too). I guess if you had to pay the same gas prices that we pay here (in Quebec), it would eventually pay for itself.

I'm a conservative to the core, but I don't really see this issue as black and white or liberal or conservative. Here, we are enjoying the lowest gas prices in almost seven years.....about $0.90 per liter (about 3.60 a gallon). Last year, gas went higher than 1.50 per liter! (6.00 per gallon). It cost more than 100.00 to fill up our minivan. My husband works in Montreal which is a hour away from our house, so we had to buy a VW golf for him. I am perfectly willing to drive a hybrid or a more fuel friendly car to save a few dollars. Our gas bill usually is more than our mortgage every month!

It's not just there is Chicago, but here in Utah my Jeep Cherokee gets me everywhere even in the worse conditions. What was someone saying about global warming?

I drove my Ford Explorer into the ground..literally. Those little compact cars are a joke. When you have kids you have to have something bigger. I will never buy a hybrid.

We have two SUV's. I have a Jeep Wrangler and hubby has a Ford Explorer. I wouldn't trade either of them for the world! Hybrids are overrated and as Dixie said, aren't cost effective. My dad works for Ford and has said many times that they saw this downturn coming and prepared for it. That is why they do not need any bailout. They did what any responsible business does, reduce, regroup and tighten the belt!

I drive a Jeep too. I feel so cramped in those little cracker boxes. When i did have a car it was an 80's model grand marquis. I saw on the news the money you save on gas you pay for on the car anyway. Imagine how much it would cost to fix it if something went wrong.

I love Ford! We just bought a E-350 15 passenger van for our ever expanding family. My cousin works for one of the Ford plants in MI and they are instituting round robin law-offs. They lay off a group of people for a month, then bring them back to work. Then lay off another group. Round and round it goes. By the time it gets back to the first group they are eligible for unemployment again. They have also said, no thanks to any bail out money.

i live in the south and i drive an SUV. It feels safer. Especially when you see an 18 wheeler blowing a little hybrid around.

I've also heard that the batteries used in hybrids aren't decompossible so in the long run they are worse for our environment. Wonder why the liberals aren't talking about that?

Another problem I have with hybrids is that they use electricity. So if everyone used a hybrid wouldn't it cause an electricity shortage, and make our power bills go sky high.

I've also heard that the manufacturing plants that make the hybrid batteries make enough pollution to more than make up for what you save on the road. Ohhhhh...the irony. I wonder what happens to those batteries when they have to be thrown out.

I don't like hybrids, there are a couple i see around town and the people in them look all scrunched up and they don't even look safe.  I have two kids when i buy a new car im getting something thats going to protect us and aren't hybrids expensive? Im not going to pay more for less.

I'm there with you, we need a 4x4 to even get out of our driveway in the winter, and this winter has been bad! I just with the liberals would let the Americans determine what kind of vehicle we want, instead of trying to push something on us that doesn't work.
