I need some advice on how to motivate myself to start running again. I had always been involved in sports and have always been a runner, but I can't seem to get myself back out on the road since my daughter was born 4 months ago. I am a stay at home mom, and by the time my husband gets home from work, I feel like I am too tired to do anything but relax for a few seconds! Any advice on getting back out there? Thanks!

Like Nanette said register for a race. I used to do it as soon as I got up or before my husband went to work. It helped me deal with the kids.

You need to make yourself a priority....this makes you a better, more balanced mom. Take it slow...take it with a jogging stroller...maybe just start with the C25K program and see where that leads you. Also, if you simply register for a 5K event 12 weeks out, you are going to be forcing yourself to be more motivated!

I totally agree with what everyone is saying. I have never been a runner and after I had my son I lost tons of weight from spinning. After I was bored of that, I decided to sign up for a 5k. I had 2 months and used the couch to 5k training online. I never thought running was my thing but after 1 week I loved it. After the 5K, I signed up for a 10K. I believe that if I never signed up to a commitment then I would have never done it. Just sign up and do it!

I felt the same way but I signed up for a marathon, payed for it, so I HAD to run to be trained even though i didn't like it. And, after a while, running started to be fun again, especially when I saw how quickly all the baby fat burned! Good luck!

When my daughter was young (she is 18mnths now) I traded baby sitting with a friend that lived close by. We would trade off watching each others kids during the day for about an hour. That helped me have the time, but when I started taking a natural, healthy energy drink (not those crazy monster drinks) I found that I had more motivation overall throughout the whole day to get moving and get the stuff that I wanted to get done.

Good luck! I hope you were able to figure something out!

My baby wil be 4 months on the 30th. I bought a used double jogger and signed up for a race. I have a 3 and a 7 year old, when my 7yr old gets on the bus me and the two boys hit the trail. I used to work and it seemed there was never enough time to run, so now that I am home I am not taking my time for granted. Good luck to you!
