new to running.

I am 30 years old, and my daughter is 4 months old, she is my 3rd child, I was overweight when I got pregnant, 195, 5'5" I only gained 7lbs total. I am now down to 180, I just started running/walking a month ago. I can see that I am getting better at it, I am trying to learn how to control my breathing. I haven't lost anymore weight. I do an hour of yoga a day, 20 push-ups, 50 sit-ups a day. I walk/run 3 days a week, for 3 miles. Is there any advice to lose more weight or how to control my breathing longer?

For breathing, try to encourage yourself to breathe in through your mouth and out through your nose...this surprisingly teaches your body to use the abdomen (rather than chest) for increasing oxygen intake. Regardless, it will simply get better the more you run.

Also, once you are able to add more miles on to your weekly schedule, the weight will simply start to fall off. Stay motivated....look at the big picture. You want fitness, not just weight loss...and with fitness, weight loss will happen. I was right where you were a year ago!

To lose more weight, you need to look at how much calories are you taking in regarding food and how much you are expending through every day tasks and your exercising. Get a Garmin watch to track how much calories you are burning and then if you want to track your calories, then send me a message and I will supply websites that I use or download an App for your phone. With an App on your phone, you can track calories wherever you go. To control your breathing for longer, I tend to concentrate to inhale deep for 4 seconds and then blow it out as deep as I can, doing this right through out my running time.
