5 year old daughter so into herself

My daughter is five and will be six on Wednesday. All she cares about is her self and she still throws fits and cries if she does not get her way. She cries and screams a lot. I am at the end of my rope. I am wondering if she needs counseling or is this normal? I am having a hard time believing it is normal and I am miserable. Any advice for me?

Five is a little young to think normal or abnormal, but it's a great age to introduce them to understanding how others actually feel.Children learn very fast that certain behavior either has reward or unpleasant consequences. Always getting your way just isn't always possible. don't give into the naughty behavior of screaming and crying to get her way, explain why she can't have it her way and give a choice of what she can do or have, it will include her in the problem solving and give her a little chance to see how her frustations can be worked out in a good way.Be consistant in your parenting, pick your battles and remember helping her solve issues in a positive way gives her confidence in her own abilities to get her point across in a good way. Hope this helps,I know it can be trying for a mon.
