I have a 6 year old daughter who is the best acting kid no trouble or negativity but she is a very anxious child and im not sure but I think may be causing "pee accidents" at school. She is in First Grade and has had at least 10 accidents since September. She never had any accidents in Kindergarten or Pre-school so this is new territory to myself and my husband and we just want to help her. I've talked to the teacher and the Psychaitrist neither see behavior issues but they do both see anxiety issues...How can I help her?!?! I need ideas please!! Another addition is I am daughter is very excited to be a big sister but now im on hospital bed rest for 5 weeks and our little girl will be born at 29 weeks we believe so she is having an mtional reaction to this as well but I dont feel it is the entire reason as to her accidents.

Her teacher is very structured and has times for bathroom breaks when everyone goes but they are allowed to raise their hands and ask to use the bathroom and if it is during an important activity they are asked if it is a 911 and if it is they are never told they can't go so she has opportunity but I don't know how often she is actually asking to use the restroom...I've asked her if she likes her teacher and she said yes and she said she doesnt want to change teachers...the teacher is now doing a sticker chart with her for each day she is dry at the end of the day she gets a sticker and at the end of the week if she has 4 or more stickers she gets a toy from the treasure chest...the teacher is also sending her to the bathroom hourly now...she has been coming home dry since this has been set in motion but I would hate for her to be teased you know how horrible some kids can be...

Like Jane, I, too had the wicked witch of the west as my first grade teacher, and she was awful! She wouldn't let us use the restroom except at specific break times. I had a kidney infection, and STILL wasn't allowed to go, even with a doctor's note...So, I got sent home for peeing my mom was furious, and I changed classes. No problems after that.

Does your daughter like her teacher? Is she, perhaps, not using the restroom when she should, or maybe afraid to ask permission to go?

I had accidents in first grade because my teacher inspired terrible fear in me. Perhaps she needs to be in a different class.
