I have a daughter who just turned 7. She is very smart and skipped a grade to keep her at the level she needed to be at. Last year in school she got all A's and did amazing. This year is a whole nother story she is failing everything and they cant get her to focus on anything. Dr. said its ADHD and put her on Intuniv. Now she has a heart condition called Mitral Valve Prolasp so Im a little concerned with meds. Have any of you ever hear of this. I have read the sites on the internet but just looking for a personal experience.

Did they say it was from the medication or they just discovered it, and the medication can not be taken with the condition? I have 2 adopted children who both have severe ADHD and Bi-Polar, and there behavior was beyond failed grades. It was viloence, difiance you name it we got it. they were adopted. Anyways, look into this on the internet..ASK your doctor.

I wouldn't be surprised if her medication is causing her to not focus. I am on a medication that gives me the same symptoms as ADHD. It's frustrating not to be able to concentrate or remember things that used to be easy for me. I'm on another medication that treats my condition but has the side affect of controlling ADHD. Go back to her cardiologist and see if this is a possible side affect and see if there is something different she can be on or if there is another way to control it.
