appropriate punishment for my 7 year old son using curse words at school?

My 2nd grade son, who is otherwise perfectly behaved at school, just got in trouble for the second time for saying a curse word at school. He is only allowed to watch minimal, age appropriate tv & has never even been allowed to say words like hate or stupid. I am mortified that my sweet little guy is becoming the child at school with the "potty mouth". I don't want to completely overreact but this obviously warrants some serious action on our part. Please help!!

I tell my boys "smart people don't swear." Swearing is an uneducated way of expressing one's self. He is smarter than that and if he wants people to know it, and like him he should find bigger better words to out smart others and gain respect.
As far as punishment, hold a AWARD, not a punishment for him to receive at the end of the week for good behavior and home and school. Ask the teacher for a report at the end of the week. IF my boys are to school on time, finish homework on time, keep household responsibilities and obey and respect others for the week, they earn a play date on FRI with friend of choice. Or it can be video games, or movie or toy, but NO FOOD please....good luck. he will be fine :)
