Birthday parties

Camille - posted on 09/13/2009 ( 2 moms have responded )

My daughters birthday is 12/27. Of course this is very close to Christmas, and right during winter break. I was wondering what other moms would do have a party a couple weeks before the actual birthday or waituntil after the holidays and hold a party in early January? I'm still researching places as well. Any suggestions would be great. I have also heard from some other moms that giving out invites at school is a no no? If you don't give out invites at school what do you do? My child is in kindergarten, so we don't really know anyone yet.

My daughter's birthday is Dec. 22. I always had her parties at the end of the Christmas holiday break. I found that most people that left home for the holiday were only gone during the 1st week. And they were acually trying to find things to do during the 2nd week. If you prefer to wait most school have at least one day off in Jan.
As for sending invites to school, ask the teacher. If you're only inviting some kids it's better to give the invitations to the teacher. Then she can put them in with other papers that may be coming home. Then the kids that weren't invited won't see them.
Check out local hobby stores sometimes they hold parties. Then each child will have a craft to take home.

My daughter's birthday is July 1st. It's a hard time of year to get many of her friends out for a birthday party. School just finishing not long before....families already away for vacation...I've held them a few weeks before. I have a friend who's son was born February 1st. Since it's middle of winter still, and he'd prefer an outdoor party, they have a family birthday get-together around his birthday, and a friend party a few months later. As for the invites at school, it might be different where you are. Here in Winnipeg, everyone hands them out at school.
