That Sounds Fun! Sound Words and Sports Poetry
This activity can be used for children 1st grade through teens
Summer is a time for going to the park, playing baseball with friends, and watching games in the stands with hundreds or thousands of fans. In this activity, children and teens use their experiences playing or watching sporting events (or other types of outdoor games) to write poems that are full of the sounds of the games, practicing the use of onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia are words to describe sounds lie crack, bang sizzle.
