Build your child's social circle with a Halloween party

This is a perfect chance to help your child become more socially connected. (this prevents being bullied) Offer to let your child host a halloween party. This could be done early by having a costume making event, (look up ideas on the internet, Family Fun usually has some good ones)
Connect with the other parents on this idea and build bridges of caring on your level too. Ask the moms to bring one costume idea to share and tell you the materials involved, ie, Frankenstein, plastic milk jug, 1/8 yd fake fur and 2 large bolts. The mom would bring green spray paint for plastic, glue gun or glue for plastic, thin elastic for head attachment and an exacto knife to share in making the Frankenstein plastic heads. Kids at party can network to lend, borrow, trade items they have that others might use in a costume (black cape, old hat, fake eyeglasses etc.)

Host a party on the Fri. night before Halloween or the week before. Activities could be, costume contest, Best Halloween eats contest. Making halloween eats from magazines, a bon fire (when I have a Halloween bonfire we roast a ghost over the fire using peeps marshmallow ghosts, and make smores) Monster mash dance contest. Flashlight tag-this becomes even more Halloweeny when black light flashlights are used or put out a strobe light and play tag etc.

Hosting social events like this helps your child build friendships with others which protect them from bullying.
