my son is in first grade and just won an award for best behavior in his class. I want to reward him but at home he is not the "best behaved" how can i get him to behave at hime as well as in school? A nd how can I reward his behave at school while still being firm about his behavior at home?

This is totally normal for people (not just kids). Everyone (or almost everyone) acts better out in public than they do at home. Just see his behavior in each place as two different things - and don't tie the two together in any way. Give him A LOT of praise for his behavior at school. Let him know how proud you are of it. As far as the home behavior, it will probably never be as good as the school behavior. Try to be as positive as you can with him about it. When he misbehaves, talk to him about what he has done wrong and how you expect him to behave. Tell him you are sure he is old enough to be able to behave properly. Use consequences as you need to.
