Fire ant bites

Does anyone know of any remedies or any thing good to treat fire ant bites? My four year old fell on an ant ple and he's got blisters all over his right hand and leg.

I took him to the doctor on a previous ocation that he had ant bites because they get really bad but they did not give him anything.

I've been using hydrocortizone but it's not helping and I really don't know what to do anymore; he screams in pain everytime that I try to put it on and I feel very desperate and helpless. Does anyone have any tips or know of anything that might work?

Try soaking in a oatmeal bath...i did that with my daughter and it helped better then the hydrocortisone.

I would suggest Web MD, because basially what you are doing is what I was going to suggest you do. It may be a good thing that it hurts because that means its working, just keep using the cream and give him something for the pain maybe right before you apply the cream depending the time frame between applications because you can only give themevery 4 to 6 hours.i hope he feels better.

webmd recommends cold packs, pain relievers and antihistamines...and after the first 6 hours(so now...) warmth. also elevate the area to relieve swelling...

Personally, the hydrocortisone cream worked best for my daughter. She didn't like the application either, but when it soaked in, it did feel better. the hardest part was keeping her from scratching the scabs later.
