Great website to keep kids spelling over summer break!!

[deleted account] ( 3 moms have responded )

I use this website during the school year for my kids weekly spelling tests. I have set up personal lists for both my 1st grader and 4th grader to work on over the summer. The great thing about this website is it allows the kids to play games with the words, use the words in sentences and will test them too.

If anyone wants to use the lists I have created, contact me and I will give you the login info to view my lists. The lists are super easy to create -- I have created some with high frequency words and some with a specific story involved. The great thing is you could make a list that coincides with your life, i.e. one full of words from an upcoming vacation or previous travels. And it is all FREE!

This is great and I am interested in seeing your list for some helpful tips! My son is in the 3rd grade and was just thinking about things we can do over the summer to keep him active. I was thinking about summer school to be quite honest and then allow him to do swimming and other fun stuff afterwards. I just think its too long of a break and they loose a lot of what they learned with such a long time frame between the end of school to the beginning of the following year. Thanks again!!!

This is a great site, it's awesome that they can even work word definitions into the games!

If you're in the market for educational websites for kids, also be sure to check out We've put together hundreds of fun, educational games for kids all in one place - and we'll be sure to include Spelling City :)

It's all free, so definitely let me know how it goes if you end up trying it out!
