Healthy Snacks?

Does anyone have any ideas for healhy snacks for a 6yr old other than rice cakes, yoghurt, cheese based snacks or fruit? (My son will only eat fruit when he's in the humour, which is not very often)

:-) My daughter is going through a picky spell right now... (hopefully it's only a phase) But, anyway, enough about that... I have to agree. Take a couple seconds, make it cute, kids tend to eat it... One thing, if you go to and look at Ze Fronk, they have a bunch of cute, quick recipes.

You could try Ants on a Log. It's basically celery stuffed with peanut butter and topped with raisins. Celery stuffed with cream cheese is good, too. Cottage cheese with blueberries. Tuna stuffed celery is good if your kids like fish (mine do). And if you let your child help to make the snacks, they may be a little more willing to eat them. My kids love fruit and yogurt parfaits. I put them in fancy martini glasses to make them special. Kids love it when you make it special. You know how they say you eat with your eyes first? Well, kids are more adventurous if it looks fun. Sometimes I make snacks for my 2 and 4 year old using a little tea set (we have an afternoon tea). Hope you find these useful.

I keep a ziplock bag of cooked whole grain noodles in the fridge for snacks. Reheated with a sprinkle of shredded cheese it's pretty good. My son is only two but anything he can dip in something is fun for him and he's more likely to eat it. Hummus and crackers or whole grain pita bread, peanut butter and apples, celery sticks or crackers. Baked tortillas broken up into chips to dipped in salsa. You can make a healthy salsa with a small can of chopped tomatoes, corn, black beans, chopped cilantro, lime juice and a little bit of chili powder or taco seasoning.

my son Kerby doesn't like eating vegetables. I just tell him batman eats lots of veggies thats how he gets nice n strong. it works. all my 3 children loves all kinds of fruit.

My kids like to have plain yogurt with granola and fruit, celery with cheese whiz, my almost 4 year old loves cottage cheese with craisins in it. Granola bars are good, what about veggies and dip? Usually when you put something on a plate or in a bowl and make it look tasty kids will be more apt to try it. Most of the time its trial and error with kids, because my 2 older boys eat almost everything you put in front of them where my youngest I have to entice him to try new things. Good luck with this and you can always check out Kraft, because they have all kinds of recipes from snacks, to dinner to entertaining.
