My daughter was never dog lover but has got recently resulting in 15 min delay in getting out of the car if she thinks ther is one around. It dosnt matter what size they are or what form of persuasion we use the child is petrifed of dogs snd it is going to cause everyone a lot of upset this summer. Any one got any ideas , I am at a loss. Am considering asking in local health shop about Bach remedies_ Fraoch

Start very slowly, ease her into being around them and stay with her every step of the way. If she sees that you're not afraid, she's more likely to feel safe too. (I'd also start by exposing her to a small dog first ;) )

What are Bach remedies? Have you tried showing her a puppy? Maybe just watching a sweet movie oh dogs could peek her interest. We have 2 dogs, since puppies and that helped my little ones be more comfortable and now they are in separable!

Reassurance, a loving dog that will sit while she strokes quietly, mainly lots of time. My 9 year old has only just started to go anywhere near dogs of any size after spending her whole life being petrified. (grandma doesn't like dogs so scared her pulling her away all the time). Wish you luck

The best thing that I can say is ease her into not just say oh to bad deal with it...let her be around dogs that you know are safe and will not nip at her....Also if the dog is ok being tied up then tie it to a tree and let her play wound them and eventually she will gradually go up to the dog...also what worked for my daughter was letting her play ball with our dog and feeding it
