How can I get my 3 kids (ages 9, 7 & 3) to listen when I talk to them and stop yelling all the time?

Go to your local library and see if they have a book or dvd called 1-2-3 Magic. I have four kids (ages 2-8) and thought the yelling would never end until I started using this parenting technique. Mow my kids listen to me, do as I say, and I don't have to yell. I also have them on a reward system. I realized disciplining bad behavior wasn't nearly as affective as rewarding good behavior. I would love to go into detail about the reward system we use, but it would take up so much room on this thread. Look up the 1-2-3 Magic, and message me if you want reward system ideas, I have used many systems before I found the one for us.

if they are doing something like watching tv walk up & shut it off or if they are playing with a toy ask them to put it down or you inform them that you will take it away. start with the time outs (1 minute for every yr for the small children) ive found myself yelling at my girls some days too. but then i just started taking away toys & privlages. ive realized that i spoil my girls & i shouldnt be doing that since sometimes they ignore what i ask them to do something & they blow me off. its frustrating i know.

I would try talking instead of yelling, they tend to tune you out when you yell! Start by saying something about what they are interested in,then maybe something like,"you know I'd like to hear more about.....,but you don't seem to want to listen to me, so.....

It usually works, once they realize that you are actually interested in something they have to say!!
