How do you store/organize all the kids books?

I have been storing all my books on surprise surprise in the book shelf but I'm noticing that it's hard to find a specific book when my son asks to have that story read to him.I would like to be able to see what I have.Or even if I can number them or something less extreme like catergorizing them.I just don't what to do anymore.

our book shelf contains big books, then lil books, then soft books and hard back books, coloring books/ activity books on the very bottom of the shelf.

We store the books by genre and size in our bookshelves. Even when the kids were small, they knew exactly where to find a book.........

even i store them in a book shelf and it is kept at a height where my daughter can reach whenever she wants to read. and i am sure your son recognises all his books in just one look.try it once and you will be surely pleasently surprised....

I have a 5 year old and what I do is go through and discard or giveaway the books the child out grows or doesn't like and then group together like books. My son use to love blues clue's I have a big section of that and nick jr books, and then a section for I spy books and look and find, an educational section with books on letters and so forth... It gets disorganized every so often when he gets his hands on things and your in a hurry to clean up and just put it any where on shelf but what can you do they are kids organized it won't always be. I try to make time to read him 2 books a night or have a story time where he picks books, but as soon as we are done I can put them back. I hope this is of some help. ! :)
