He attends kindergarden and he sometimes comes home with homework because he didn't finished it in school and when we make him sit down to do it he refuses. We send him to his room, he is very stubborn. Anyone else have issues like this? Appreciate any help !!!

sometimes just being firm and consistent helps your five year old to know that you mean serious business. my son used to do this but when he noticed how serious and consistent, and persistent Mummy was, he saw no space for not doing his homework. I also refuse him not to ride his bike while his brother goes on riding, this makes him really to wake up and do his homework.

My daughter use to do that. So I have setup different times for homework until she becomes an age she will not need it.
1. just before we go to the park. so if wanna go finish your work.
2. just before any outing if i didnt get time at 4:00pm
3. this one is really nasty. she is scared of the dark so just before going to bed or mum will not tuck you in or read you a story.
and after doing her work she gets a candy.

It might seem odd..but I had a dog for a very long time and learnt that the tricks that work for a dog work for the children..positive reinforcement all the way.
