My 9 year old son is a mouthy brat and I have no idea what else I can do. Grounding him doesnt phase him, taking things away doesnt bother him much, I had him in therapy and that did nothing but cost me money! He knows the difference between whats right and wrong. He does apologize for things he says but he always does/says it again. He hates school and I've talked to his teachers and they all say no one is bothering him and he says the same. If anyone has any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it!!!! Thanks!!!

Can you get on the states health insurance to help ease the costs of Therapy? A Therapist / Counselor can help triggor where alot of anger and resentment maybe coming from. Good luck.

Jenn, this may sound harsh, but have you ever told him that you don't like him when he's a mouthy little brat?

We all love our kids. But, there's nothing that says we have to LIKE them when they're being little jerks, and nothing at all that says we can't tell them!

My sons have both heard it. "Son, I love you with all my heart, but when you're an ass, I don't LIKE you. My love doesn't change, but I don't like the way you are acting, and I'd appreciate if you'd try harder to act correctly"

They both were shocked, but they also understood what I meant, and the behavior didn't happen again after that.

I love my kids dearly, but I have no problem letting them know when they aren't very likable.
