We are pulling our Kindergarten student out for many reasons and we are going to try cyber school. Our 1st grader is staying in the public school for now. Anyone else doing cyber school? He is excited about it & I am also. He will finish out this week in his classroom and then on Monday he will start cyber school.

Do you have recess and enrichments planned for your child? Children at this age need to develope their fine motor skills as well as their gross motor skills. Typing on a keyboard all day (1/2 day) is difficult for any child this age. You would be better off using a home school curriculum with playdates with other home schooled children, then use the computer as part of the schedualed lessons.
My daughters 32 & 28y were inducted to the computers from age 4 & at birth. They are very computer illeriate and have different levels of use and purposes for their computers. I wrote computer programs in the beginning for speech communications, then purchased pre&elementary school programs to teach my daughters before they entered Kindergarten. They grew up learning at home after they completed their school day. One child was talented the other gifted. Both are extremely bright wonderful Teachers today in the public school systems.

I have never heard of cyber school. But at that age i dont think that is a good idea. Kids need to be able to be with other children there age this is how they learn social skills. When my daughter was im kindergarten she had a hard time getting to know new people and even getting along with them. Then i decided to let her do alot of it on her own such as walking in the school by herself, teaching her to except consequences such as if she goes in and acts up she will have to except what happens what happens such as being sent to the principal. After i did this she did awesome i gave her room to grow even though it broke my heart cus she didnt need me as much but it helped her out in the long run now she's a straight a, everyone loves her first grader. So i would give school another chance and express your problems and concerns with the teacher and principal and see if that works.

I haven't heard of cyber school either. What has prompted this? Is there a problem with the school, teachers, peers? I'm just curious what has made you decide to pull him from a public school education. Is there a Cyber school support group like homeschoolers have?
