letting kids win @games

My nephew is 6 going to counseling , counselor said to always let him win @games opinions on that?????

I think that's silly. I think you should go easy on kids, but you can't just always let them win. They have to learn how to react appropriately if they lose. What happens when they're playing a game against other kids? What happens if you're playing a game that is based solely on luck (Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land, etc.)? Are you supposed to lie to them and miscount? I think that's bad. Kids aren't dumb. If you keep doing that they're going to figure out that you're lying/cheating. Even if it is just to let them win, it's not the right thing to do. At the same time, if there's a way to let them win, then let them win most of the time. But not all the time. And always cheer for the person who wins, no matter who they are.
However, I don't know why he's going to see the counselor. There may be something going on that makes this a special case.
